FUEL TO KEEP BUILDING - A HEROES OF AFRICA WARDS 2026 SPEECH.

“Distinguished guests, respected leaders, the incredible team at Heroes Global, change makers, fellow nominees and everyone here with a heart like mine - Good evening.

I stand before you tonight, not just as an awardee, but as a servant of the people; a journey that began at a very young age 14 years ago when I stepped into community work at the constituency level.

I remember walking into that office full of hope but also, quickly realizing that passion alone was not enough. The challenges were real, the needs were urgent and the solutions required more than systems; they required a heart, innovation and courage.

It was in that difficult season that I understood something that would shape my life forever: If I truly wanted to take care of my community which I love so much, I first had to grow into someone capable of carrying that responsibility and from that realization The Fit Start Foundation was born, to teach and share what I had learnt in my own journey of healing, perseverance, resilience and constantly looking for solutions.

What started a response to gaps I was witnessing in my line of duty became a movement. A movement to guide young people who were full of potential but lacked direction. A movement to restore digninty, build confidence and create opportunity for women.

Through The Jalango Super League in Nairobi, The Waziri Super Cup in Webuye and The Younger Kibwezi Fc in Kibwezi, sports has been more that just a game; it has become a safe space, a classroom and a launch pad for discipline, leadership, resilience and most importantly - Hope.

Over the years, from the rural communities into the dynamic environment of Nairobi, one truth has remained constant to me; that, talent is everywhere but sadly opportunity is not.

This gala, glam and recognition makes it look easy, but for all of us here who have gone the extra mile, the journey has been nothing like a walk in the park. There were moments of doubt, moments of exhaustion and moments where the vision felt bigger than the resources. But purpose, you know , purpose has a way of reminding you why you started.

I have seen young people rise when given a chance, I have seen women transform their families when empowered and I have seen communities rebuild themselves when someone simply believes in them.

so,

Do not wait for the perfect conditions. Start where you are, use what you have, become who you need to become and share your becoming the world.

To every girl at stitching the future program who feels unseen; your Voice is not small, the world just hasn’t heard it yet. To all of us in leadership; Let us not just manage systems, let us transform lives. This award is not the destination, it is fuel. Fuel to keep building. Fuel to keep showing up and fuel to keep believing in the Africa we know is possible.

And so we continue, step by step, life by life, program by program, impact by impact making a difference and making this world a better place.

I dedicate this recognition to my loving parents whose beautiful hearts I carry with pride, every community that trusts me, every team member who stands by me and every young person who reminds me that this work matters.

May the good job that heroes of Africa is doing in this world be a reminder and proof that Africa is not waiting to rise - AFRICA IS RISING THROUGH ITS PEOPLE.
